HiText Business Terms of Service
Version: 2026-10-14
Applies to: HiText Business (monthly and yearly plans and the free recording with speakers)
This is a translation. In case of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails: read the Spanish version.
These terms govern the purchase and use of HiText Business, HiText's web plan for professionals. Read them before using the free recording with speakers and before paying. Together with the data processing agreement and the HiText Business privacy policy, they form the entire agreement between you and us.
1. Who provides the service
- Owner: Roberto Díaz Badra, a self-employed professional trading under the business name Disruptive Normality.
- Contact: disruptivenormality@gmail.com
In these terms, “we” or “us” means the owner, and “you” or “the Customer” means the natural or legal person who holds the HiText Business account. If you subscribe on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it. You must be of legal age to subscribe.
2. Purpose and plan
HiText Business is an online service that transcribes audio or video recordings that you upload, separates the turns by speaker (this is on by default and you can turn it off to use standard transcription) and, using templates (interview by speaker, synthesis of several interviews, meeting minutes or your own format), generates documents that you can edit, copy and export to Word. It includes projects, a glossary, speaker names and email notifications when a transcription is ready.
The plan is individual: one account, one user. Your login details are personal and may not be shared.
HiText Business is purchased and managed on the web. Business includes HiText Pro: with the same account you get the Pro features on the web and in the HiText app. Pro subscriptions bought on the App Store or Google Play are governed by those stores' terms, and Pro bought on the web is governed by the HiText terms of use. If you already have Pro, section 5 explains what happens when you subscribe to Business.
3. Free recording with speakers
- Every person registered on HiText can try the Business features once, with no card and no commitment: one recording of up to 60 minutes, transcribed with speakers. If the file is longer, only the first 60 minutes are transcribed, and we tell you before you upload it.
- To use it you need to sign in with an account with a verified email address (email and password, Google or Apple). It is one per email address, even if you delete the account and register again; to check this we keep an encrypted digest of the email address, as explained in the privacy policy.
- With the free recording you can generate up to 10 documents and export them. When you are done, you keep the recording and the documents to read and export them, but to upload more recordings with speakers or generate new documents you need a Business subscription.
- The free recording does not turn into a paid subscription: you only pay if you purchase a plan.
- If the transcription of the free recording fails because of a problem on our side, it becomes available again.
4. Prices and taxes
- Monthly plan: €29 per month, taxes not included.
- Yearly plan: €249 per year, taxes not included.
The final price, including any applicable taxes, is shown before you pay. We provide the service from the Canary Islands, so the tax (VAT or IGIC) depends on where and how you are billed:
- Consumers in mainland Spain or the Balearic Islands: Spanish VAT (21%).
- Consumers in another European Union country: your country's VAT.
- Customers in the Canary Islands, consumers or professionals: IGIC (Canary Islands General Indirect Tax, 7%), where applicable under our IGIC regime.
- Businesses and professionals in mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands or another European Union country that provide a valid NIF (Spanish tax ID) or EU VAT number: the invoice is issued without VAT, under the reverse charge mechanism (article 84.Uno.2.º of Ley 37/1992 del IVA (Spanish VAT Act) or article 196 of Directive 2006/112/EC, as applicable). Declaring the tax is your responsibility.
- Customers outside the European Union: no VAT or IGIC, unless the law of your country requires us to charge a local tax.
You are responsible for ensuring that the tax details you provide (country, address, tax ID and company name) are correct. If they are incorrect, we may correct the invoice and charge or refund the difference in taxes.
We issue an invoice for each charge, including your tax ID if you provide it. Invoices are available in the customer portal.
If we change our prices, the change does not apply to your current subscription. If we ever had to change the price of a subscription already purchased, we would notify you by email at least 30 days in advance, so that you can cancel beforehand at no cost.
5. Payment, renewal and cancellation
- Payment is made by card or other methods accepted by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your card details.
- The subscription is charged in advance and renews automatically at the end of each period (one month or one year), for the same period and at the price in force for you, until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from the customer portal, on the web, without writing to anyone. There is no minimum term. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid: until then you keep access and you are not charged for the renewal. Outside the right of withdrawal (section 7), the unused part of the period is not refunded.
- In the portal you can also switch between the monthly and yearly plans and change your payment method and billing details.
- If you already have web Pro, when you subscribe to Business we cancel your Pro and whatever remains of it (the prorated part of the period already paid and not used) is deducted from your Business invoice. You do not pay twice. If you cancel Business before the renewal in which that balance is deducted, we refund it to the card you used to pay for Pro.
- If you have Pro from the App Store or Google Play, we cannot deduct it, because that payment is managed by the store. We warn you before you pay for Business: cancel Pro in your Apple or Google settings so you do not pay twice. That Pro is governed by the store's terms.
- If you cancel Business, at the end of the paid period you also lose the Pro it includes. If you want to keep Pro, you can purchase it separately.
6. Non-payment
If a charge fails, our payment provider will retry it for a few days. In the meantime you keep access and can update your payment method in the portal. If the charge ultimately cannot be collected, the subscription is canceled and the account loses the paid features. Your files and documents are kept in accordance with section 12, and you can subscribe again whenever you like.
7. Right of withdrawal (consumers only)
If you subscribe as a consumer (for a purpose outside your trade, business or profession), you have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 calendar days from the day you purchase a paid subscription, without giving any reason.
- Express request to start. HiText Business is provided as soon as you pay: when you subscribe, you expressly ask us to start the service immediately, within the withdrawal period. If you then withdraw, we will refund what you paid less the amount proportional to the service provided up to the day you notify us of your withdrawal (article 108.3 of the Texto Refundido de la Ley General para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios (Spanish Consolidated Consumer Protection Act)).
- The free recording does not use up the period. The free recording comes before the purchase, so the 14-day period starts when you pay, not when you use it. Automatic renewals do not open a new period.
- How to withdraw. Write to us at disruptivenormality@gmail.com from your account's email address, before the period ends, with a clear statement that you are withdrawing. You can use this model: “I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my HiText Business contract, purchased on [date], in the name of [name], with the account [email]. Date and signature (only if sent on paper)”.
- Refund. We will refund the corresponding amount within a maximum of 14 calendar days from receiving your notice, using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you. With the withdrawal, the subscription ends and stops renewing.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to businesses or professionals who subscribe for their trade or profession.
8. Usage quota and limits
- 20 hours of recording per month per account, about 20 interviews or meetings a month. Periods are monthly, counted from the date you subscribe, including on the yearly plan (20 hours each month, not 240 hours at once). Unused hours do not carry over to the following month.
- Each file can be up to 3 hours long.
- What counts is the length of the recording that is transcribed. If a transcription fails because of a problem on our side, it is not deducted. If you delete a file whose transcription has already started, its hours are not returned.
- Generating documents does not use hours, but it is subject to a reasonable usage limit per period to prevent abuse. You can save up to 5 of your own templates (“My template”).
- We may adjust these limits individually if a particular use justifies it. If a general change were to your detriment, we would notify you at least 30 days in advance and you could cancel beforehand.
9. Acceptable use
By using HiText Business you undertake to:
- upload only recordings you have the right to use, having informed the people recorded and, where the law requires it, obtained their consent;
- not use the service to process special categories of data (health, ethnic or racial origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic or biometric data, sex life or sexual orientation) or data relating to criminal convictions and offences: for example, medical consultations, therapy sessions or criminal matters. The service is not designed for that use;
- not upload content that is unlawful, that infringes third-party rights or that was obtained by recording someone unlawfully;
- not share the account, not create several accounts to repeat the free recording and not try to get around the quota or the limits;
- not interfere with the service, not try to access other customers' data, not reverse engineer it and not resell the service without our written permission;
- not use the service to build a product that competes with it, for example by mass-extracting its outputs.
If you breach this section, we may suspend or close your account. If the breach is not serious, we will warn you first and give you a reasonable period to remedy it.
10. Review the generated document
Transcriptions, speaker separation and documents are generated automatically with artificial intelligence and may contain errors: mis-transcribed words, turns attributed to the wrong speaker, omissions or inaccurate summaries. The templates ask for verbatim quotes and flag what is not stated, but they do not guarantee it.
Always review the document before using it, especially if you are going to publish it, sign it, submit it to third parties or base a decision on it (for example, official minutes or a quote in a piece of research). You decide what you do with it and you are responsible for that use.
11. Liability
- We provide the service with professional diligence and do what is reasonable to keep it available, but we do not guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors. We may carry out maintenance downtime and will try to keep it short.
- We are not liable for damages arising from using a document without reviewing it, from recordings or data you have uploaded in breach of section 9, or from causes beyond our reasonable control.
- If you subscribe as a business or professional, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to it, and we are not liable for loss of profits or indirect damages.
- Nothing above limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or the rights that the law grants to consumers and that cannot be limited.
12. Your data and its deletion
- You are the controller of the personal data contained in your recordings and we process it on your behalf as a processor. This is governed by the data processing agreement, which you accept when you subscribe and which prevails over these terms in matters of data protection.
- We process your account, billing and usage data as a controller, in accordance with the HiText Business privacy policy.
- The original audio or video file is deleted when the transcription finishes and, at the latest, 7 days after it is uploaded. Transcripts and documents stay in your account until you delete them. You can delete each file or all your Business data from the settings. If you ask us in writing, we delete them within a maximum of 30 days, and if 12 months pass with no activity on the account and no subscription in force, we delete them automatically.
- The documents you generate are yours. We only use them to provide the service to you, and neither we nor our providers use them to train artificial intelligence models.
13. Intellectual property
The service, its software, its system templates and its trademarks belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use it for as long as your subscription lasts or while you use the free recording. Your recordings, your own templates and the documents generated from them are yours.
14. Term and termination
The contract lasts as long as you have a subscription in force and ends at the end of the period in which you cancel. We may terminate the contract or suspend the account for a breach of these terms in accordance with section 9. If we stopped providing HiText Business, we would notify you at least 30 days in advance, refund the proportional part of what you paid for the period not provided and let you export your documents before the shutdown.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to adapt them to legal changes or changes to the service. We will publish each version with its date on this page and, if the changes are to your detriment, we will notify you by email at least 15 days in advance. If you do not agree, you can cancel before they take effect. Changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Spanish law.
- If you are a consumer, you may go to the courts of your place of residence. This does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
- If you are a business or professional, the parties submit to the courts of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
We do not participate in any alternative consumer dispute resolution scheme. Before making any claim, write to us at disruptivenormality@gmail.com: we will try to resolve it within a reasonable time.
