How to turn a podcast episode into text

To turn a podcast into text, open HiText and choose the episode file (the MP3, M4A or WAV you exported from your editor or downloaded from your host) or paste the episode's YouTube link. In a few minutes you have the full transcript and an AI summary you can reuse for show notes, a blog post or social posts. Your first 30 minutes are free.

Podcast to text, step by step

  1. 1

    Get the episode

Export the final mix from your editor (MP3 or WAV) or download the file from your podcast host. If the episode is also on YouTube, you can use its link instead.

  2. 2

    Open it in HiText

Choose the file from Files, share it from another app or paste the YouTube link. HiText detects the language on its own.

  3. 3

    Reuse the text

Copy the transcript for your website, take the summary as a base for show notes or read it translated if you publish in another language.

What to do with a podcast transcript

  • Show notes and episode descriptions from the AI summary
  • A blog post or newsletter built from the best parts of the conversation
  • Exact quotes for social posts without scrubbing through the audio
  • A text version for listeners who prefer to read

Which episodes it accepts

HiText works with files and YouTube links. It doesn't read links from Spotify, Apple Podcasts or other podcast apps, so for those you need the audio file: if it's your show, export it from your editor or download it from your host. Long episodes are fine: files up to 2 GB in the app. Video podcasts work too, see video to text and YouTube video to text.

Interviews with several guests

The standard transcript is the full text of the conversation; it doesn't tag each line with the speaker's name. If you need the interview split by speaker, with quotes and timestamps in a Word file, that's HiText Business.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to transcribe a podcast?

You start with 30 free minutes of transcription, no card needed. To keep transcribing you can subscribe to Pro inside the app; you see the price before paying and can cancel any time from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

Can I paste a Spotify or Apple Podcasts link?

No. HiText only takes links from YouTube. For other platforms, use the episode's audio file: export it from your editor or download it from your podcast host, then open it in HiText.

Does it work with long episodes?

Yes. The limit is the file size, up to 2 GB in the app and 1 GB in the browser, so a two-hour MP3 fits easily. Long files just take a few more minutes.

Can I do it from my computer?

Yes. If the episode is on your computer, upload it in your browser at app.trytiro.app with the same account. You can copy the text or download it as a TXT file.

Which languages does it transcribe?

13 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French and German, with automatic detection. You can read the transcript translated into 15 languages.
