Interviews and meetings

Transcribe interviews and meetings to text, with a summary

To transcribe an interview or a meeting, record it with HiText or upload the recording you already have: audio from your phone or the file Zoom, Google Meet or Teams exports. In a few minutes you get the full transcript and an AI summary with the decisions and next steps, ready to copy or share.

How to transcribe an interview or a meeting

  1. 1

Record it or get the file

Record straight in the app with your phone on the table, or download the Zoom, Meet or Teams recording (MP4 or M4A) and save it to Files.

  2. 2

    Upload it to HiText

In HiText, pick the file. It supports audio and video up to 2 GB, and the language is detected automatically.

  3. 3

    Share the meeting notes

Check the transcript, read the summary of the key points and send it to your team or client by email or message. Keep each project in its own folder.

Who it's for

For anyone who records conversations for work and doesn't want to spend the afternoon listening to them again.

  • Journalists and creators: interviews with exact quotes
  • Agencies and consultants: client meetings, briefings and discovery calls
  • Researchers and students: qualitative interviews and focus groups
  • Teams: notes from internal meetings without anyone taking them

From meeting to meeting notes

The AI summary lays out what mattered in the conversation as a list: who took part, what was discussed, what was agreed and what's still to do. That way you can send the notes as soon as the call ends and keep the full transcript in case someone asks exactly what was said.

Need the finished document?

If what you hand in is a working document, HiText Business turns the recording into a ready-to-use Word file: the interview by speaker, with quotes and timestamps or the meeting minutes with decisions and action items. It runs in your browser and your first interview is free.

Zoom, Meet or Teams meetings

HiText doesn't join the call or sit in as a bot: it transcribes the recording. If the platform lets you record, download the file and upload it; if not, leave your phone recording in the room. Always let participants know you're recording.

Interview tips

  • Place the phone between the two people and do a 10-second test
  • Avoid echoey tables, noisy cafés and speakerphone
  • If the interview is in another language, pick that language before transcribing

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to transcribe interviews and meetings?

You start with 30 free minutes of transcription, no card needed. To keep transcribing you can subscribe to Pro inside the app; you see the price before paying and can cancel any time from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

Does it tell who is speaking?

The transcript is the full text of the conversation and the summary notes who took part and what was agreed, but it doesn't label each turn with each person's name.

Can I transcribe long meetings?

Yes, as long as the file is under 2 GB. A one-hour meeting in normal-quality audio or video fits easily; longer files simply take more time.

Is it confidential? I work with client information

Your audio is used only to transcribe it and is deleted from our servers when it's done (at most within 7 days if something fails). The transcript is kept until you delete it in the app. The AI providers we use to transcribe and summarize don't train on your content under their business terms, and neither do we. Details in our privacy policy.

Which languages does it work in?

It transcribes 13 languages with automatic detection, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French and German, and you can read the transcript translated into 15 languages: handy for meetings with clients abroad.
