Translate audio
How to translate audio to text in your own language
To translate audio to text, set the language you want to read in HiText, then record, upload or share the audio. HiText transcribes it in the original language, translates it into yours and keeps both versions side by side, plus an AI summary. It recognizes 13 spoken languages, translates into 15, and your first 30 minutes are free.
Call recorded in Spanish, read in English:
- Audio language: Spanish (detected)
- Translated into: English
- Key point: New prices apply from November.
Translate audio to text, step by step
- 1
Pick your reading language
In HiText, go to Settings → Language and choose the language you want to read your audio in, for example English.
- 2
Add the audio
Record in the app, pick a file (MP3, M4A, WAV or a video) or share it from WhatsApp or another app. The spoken language is detected automatically.
- 3
Open the Translation tab
When it's done you get the transcript in the original language and, in the Translation tab, the text in yours. Copy it or share it.
When translating audio helps
Following a lecture, a podcast or a call in a language you only half speak, without replaying it with a dictionary open. Because the original transcript stays next to the translation, you can check a sentence when something sounds off.
- Voice notes from clients, family or friends abroad
- Lectures and webinars in another language
- Interviews for research or journalism
- Videos and podcasts with no subtitles in your language
Which languages it handles
HiText recognizes speech in 13 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Arabic. You can read the text translated into 15 languages. If the audio is already in your language, it isn't translated: you just read it.
Tips for a better translation
- If the audio mixes languages, pick the main one before transcribing instead of leaving it on automatic
- The translation is built from the transcript, so clean audio gives a better result

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to translate audio with HiText?
You start with 30 free minutes of transcription, no card needed. To keep transcribing you can subscribe to Pro inside the app; you see the price before paying and can cancel any time from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
Does it translate live, while people are talking?
No. HiText works with recordings: you record or upload the audio and, a few minutes later, you get the transcript and the translation. It isn't a real-time interpreter.
Can I translate Spanish audio to English text?
Yes. Set English as your language in Settings, add the Spanish audio and read the English version in the Translation tab, with the Spanish transcript next to it.
Can I do it on my computer?
Yes. In your browser at app.trytiro.app, sign in, choose the target language and upload the audio or video (up to 1 GB) or paste a YouTube link. You can copy the text or download it as TXT.
What happens to my recordings?
Your audio is used only to transcribe it and is deleted from our servers when it's done (at most within 7 days if something fails). The transcript and summary are kept on your device and on our servers until you delete them in the app. We don't use your content to train AI models. Details in our privacy policy.
